57 Abstract AB [EN] This invention relates to a method and device that are using a Lagrange cost function for optimizing rate and distortion for coding of digitized images. Both the distortion and the rate model used for coding of a present image are based on a probability distribution of transformed residual coefficients of a previously coded image, on a quantization interval and on a rounding offset of the quantization interval of the respective image. The rate model is based on an entropy for the quantized non-zero coefficients of the previously coded image, whereby the entropy is generated using the probability distribution, the quantization interval and the rounding offset.
[FR] La présente invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif qui emploient une fonction coût de Lagrange pour optimiser un débit et une distorsion en vue d'un codage d'images numérisées. La distorsion et le modèle de débit utilisés pour le codage d'une image présente sont basés sur une distribution de probabilité de coefficients résiduels transformés d'une image préalablement codée, sur un intervalle de quantification et sur un décalage d'arrondi de l'intervalle de quantification de l'image respective. Le modèle de débit est basé sur une entropie des coefficients non nuls quantifiés de l'image préalablement codée, de sorte que l'entropie est obtenue en utilisant la distribution de probabilité, l'intervalle de quantification et le décalage d'arrondi.
