57 Abstract AB [EN] To provide an improved detection sensor having a light transmitter comprised of a plurality of separate light sources.SOLUTION: An photoelectric sensor comprises: a light transmitter 12 having a plurality of separate light sources 14a, b, and a light transmission optical system that is disposed in the front part thereof to transmit a transmission light beam composed of a plurality of separate light beams 36a, b from the individual light sources; a light receiver configured to generate a reception signal upon reception of the transmission light beam coming in after being reflected in a monitoring area; and an evaluation unit for detecting objects using the reception signal. An optical deflection element 18 having microoptical zones associated with the individual light sources is disposed between the light transmitter 12 and the light transmission optical system. The microoptical zones 34a, b deflect the individual light beams onto each other such that the sum of cross-sections of the individual light beams take up smaller area in a virtual image plane in front of the light transmission optical system than the individual light sources themselves.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
