[EN] 80. Schwarzlose, A. W. Jan. 1. Machine guns.-Relates to cartridge - feeding devices employing trays of cartridges. Fig. 10 shows a cross-section of the device. The cartridges are carried in trays r, which are superposed on the hopper p, and descend by gravity, the lowest tray being supported by the lever d, which is pivoted to the hopper and carries a second lever d. The feed lever C is pivoted at F to the gun casing, and is operated by the breech bolt in its to-and-fro movement. It engages by the pin E with the lowest tray, and carries it step by step across the gun:' As the last cartridge in a tray moves away from under the next tray, the lever m takes up the position shown in Fig. 10, so that the feed lever C in its next movement acts on the hook q of the lever m, and pulls outward the supporting- lever d thus allowing the trays to descend one space. |
