[Also in Divisions A5 and C2] Plant growth regulant compositions comprise a compound of formula where R is C 1-13 alkyl, C 3-8 cycloalkyl or phenyl, R1 is benzyl, phenyl, thieny], furyl, C 1-13 alkyl or C 3-8 cycloalkyl, X is H, OH, C 1-4 acyloxy, halo, amino, (C 1-4 acyl) amino, C 1-3 alkyl, cyano, C 1-3 alkoxy, C 1-3 alkyl mercapto, heteromercapto, anilino or hydroxylamino, and wherein R, R1, X and the pyrimidine ring may be substituted by one or more of chloro, bromo, fluoro, iodo, CF 3 , OH, methyl ethyl, methoxy, methylmercapto, methylsulphonyl, nitro or dialkylamino, or a non-phytotoxic acid-addition salt thereof.
