57 Abstract AB [EN] In a process to make a mold for a prototype cast component the casting mold is made of two different types of composite materials that withstand the temperature of molten metal. The two composite materials have composition of different or organic or inorganic binding agents. The first mold section A is a solid block (2) that during production is partly or wholly encased in a second substance B. After the case has hardened the resulting block (3) form is a compound unit that is then shaped by e.g. milling, drilling, machining or grinding. The resulting form is then used in a prior art metal casting process using CAD data. The composite materials are ceramics and sand.
