57 Abstract AB [DE] Der Anmeldungsgegenstand betrifft im Wesentlichen die Kompression von Videosequenzen, wobei eine Zerlegung in Videosegmenten erfolgt und stellvertretend für diese Segmente Schlüsselbilder gebildet werden, die anschließend zu einem Mosaikbild zusammengefasst werden, das dann durch ein Bildcodierungsverfahren codiert und gespeichert bzw. übertragen wird. Auf diese Weise kann ein Betrachter beispielsweise eine schnelle und repräsentative Übersicht einer beliebigen Videosequenz erhalten.
[EN] The compression method involves determining segment boundaries in the video sequence. A given number of key images are selected from the resulting video segments and are combined into an image mosaic. The mosaic is then coded and transmitted and/or stored. The sequence may be converted into an encoded video sequence first. The segment boundaries may be formed based on the difference between two or more successive images in the sequence. Independent claims also cover an apparatus for carrying out the method.
