[EN] Battery operated writing input pad is combined with a fingerprint tester in a portable housing. It can then be used with a portable communications device such as a mobile phone for input of biometric identification data such as a fingerprint or handwriting. The device has an infrared or radio communications interface for transmission of encrypted data. If an integrated chip card reader is provided the data can be written directly to a chip card memory.
